Saskia Shutt

A Talented Goldsmith Crafting Beauty and Inspiring Others

Saskia Shutt comes from a family of craftsmen who have honed their skills working with their hands. So it was no surprise when she decided to become a goldsmith. Since opening her workshop in 1999, Saskia has created stunning pieces of jewelry that have been showcased in international art shows. But her passion goes beyond her own craft—she’s also dedicated to teaching the next generation of jewelers.

Saskia believes in passing down traditional craftsmanship, and she mentors aspiring jewelers through a teaching position. She encourages her students to not only learn the technical aspects of goldsmithing but also to find out more about the source of the materials they work with.

In addition, Saskia is an advocate for ethical practices in the jewelry industry. She’s actively involved in promoting Fairmined Gold as a responsible choice. In her recent article on recycled gold, Saskia explains how it is difficult to define the use of recycled gold as an ethical choice.
