Recycled Gold Credit+:

Recycled gold that truly makes a difference

Recycled Gold Credit+

For a long time, we at Fairever have been searching for a solution that combines genuine recycled gold with fair impact. Because one thing is clear: recycled gold alone isn’t enough. It sounds sustainable at first, but a closer look reveals a problem: traditional recycled gold lacks transparency. Where did the gold originally come from? Under what conditions was it mined? Recycled gold from unknown origins can often conceal problematic supply chains.

A common misconception: if we only use recycled gold, no new gold will be mined. Wrong. Gold continues to be extracted – driven by constant demand as an investment product.

You can find more on this topic in these two articles, which we highly recommend:

What exactly is Recycled Gold Credit+?

With Recycled Gold Credit+, we now offer you 100% recycled gold – but not just like that. It’s combined with certified credits. This means: for every gram of recycled gold you purchase from us, a credit is acquired that guarantees that elsewhere, one gram of gold was mined under humane and environmentally responsible conditions.

By purchasing our Recycled Gold Credit+ Fairmined, you support Fairmined mines in Latin America.

It works on a simple principle: 1g recycled gold = 1g mined gold with credit.

You receive not only high-quality recycled gold, but also a certificate for the acquired credits.

Why we offer it this way

Many talk about recycled gold, but hardly anyone mentions the downside: it looks sustainable at first glance, but often obscures supply chains and excludes small-scale mining. It was important to us to find a solution that does justice to both sides: the desire for a circular economy and the need for fair working conditions in mining.

Recycled Gold Credit+ is exactly that: circularity plus impact. This keeps small-scale mining part of the value chain – fairly paid, transparently supported, with the knowledge that sustainable structures will continue to exist in the future.

What's actually behind it?

In brief:

At Fairever, we believe in transparency down to the smallest detail.

That’s why we exclusively use post-consumer recycled gold. Gold that has already lived a complete life as a product and was returned to the cycle by its owners.

In contrast to “pre-consumer material,” which can also include production scraps that never reached the customer, our gold comes 100% from genuine end-of-life sources: worn jewelry, watches, dental gold, and precious metal-containing industrial residues.

Each batch is melted down, processed, and certified to 999.9 purity through independent testing before we cast it into new bars or granules. No freshly mined gold from mines, no waste dumps, no mining by-products – only responsibly reclaimed precious metal for a new life cycle.

For those who want even more detail:

Our recycled gold: Transparency with tradition

Our recycled fine gold comes from a British refinery that has been family-owned since 1760. Over 260 years of experience. The refinery operates according to Fairmined and Fairtrade standards.

The gold comes from three different sources:

End-of-life jewelry & products

  • Old jewelry, watch cases, dental alloys from end consumers and pawn shops

Workshop & casting waste from repairs

  • Offcuts, filings, and sprues created during repair, reuse, or reworking of previously used products

Industrial residues from end-of-life processes

  • Electroplating solutions, solder alloys, ceramic decorating dust, photochemical sludge (each with <2% gold content)

What makes this special: We know exactly where our recycled gold comes from. No anonymous material from unknown origins. Each batch is melted, chemically refined, and independently tested for highest purity (999.9‰). Only then does it reach you in granules or bars.

We source our gold exclusively from post-consumer sources and explicitly exclude:

  • Old stocks (grandfather stock)
  • Investment products in circulation
  • Gold bars directly from mines (which often enter the recycling supply chain via Dubai)
  • Mining residues
  • As well as all pre-consumer recycling materials from jewelry and manufacturing processes

But recycling alone isn’t enough for us. Because one crucial point remains: recycled gold doesn’t contribute to improving conditions in mining regions. This is exactly where our credits come in. They ensure that despite the circular economy, social projects and better working conditions on the ground are supported. This is how we combine the best of both worlds.

Here you can find even more detailed information about Fairmined credits.
